American musician Carly Elisabeth Simon was born on June 25, 1945 in The Bronx, New York City, NY, to Andrea Louise and Richard Leo Simon. She grew up in Riverdale, New York with her three siblings named, Lucy, Joanna, and Peter Simon. After graduated from Riverdale Country School, Simon attended Sarah Lawrence College. Shortly after, she had dropped out of Sarah Lawrence College to focus on music.
She founded a music duo called “The Simon Sisters” with her sister Lucy in 1964 and they released their debut album “Meet The Simon Sisters”. In 1971, she began her solo music career with her debut studio album “Carly Simon”. Her breakthrough came in 1972 with the album “No Secrets”, which certified platinum in the USA, gold in the UK. In the same year, she received the Grammy Award for Best New Artist.
